We are looking for a dependable, organized Seasonal Area Manager to help oversee our two Jackson Hewitt locations in Topeka.
This can be a great opportunity for someone who already has a primary job, is semi-retired, works in a seasonal industry, or simply wants to supplement their income during the winter months.
We offer flexibility in scheduling and are willing to work around another job or existing commitments. The position begins in December as we prepare our offices and team for tax season and continues through the end of tax season. Hours generally increase as tax season gets busier, with evening and weekend availability especially helpful.
Your Purpose
At Jackson Hewitt and our locally owned franchise, we help clients navigate what can be one of the most important financial events of their year—their tax return.
Our goal is to make the process easier by providing knowledgeable tax preparation, dependable service, and a welcoming customer experience.
As our Seasonal Tax Manager, you will help keep our two Topeka offices running smoothly while supporting our seasonal team and our customers.
What You’ll Do
You will help oversee the day-to-day operation of our two Topeka locations, working closely with management and our seasonal tax professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and support seasonal employees at both Topeka locations.
- Help coordinate employee schedules and maintain appropriate office coverage.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training seasonal employees.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, customer service, and office workflow.
- Coach and assist employees when questions or problems arise.
- Help ensure customers are greeted and served promptly and professionally.
- Monitor office performance and follow up on operational issues.
- Assist with customer follow-up, including incomplete or pending tax returns.
- Help resolve customer concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Support local marketing and customer outreach efforts.
- Assist with tax preparation and customer service during busy periods, when qualified.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and company information.
- Travel between our two Topeka locations as needed.
What We’re Looking For
You do not have to be a career tax professional to be successful in this role. We are looking for someone who is dependable, comfortable leading people, and able to keep things organized during a busy season.
- Previous supervisory, management, team-lead, or similar experience preferred.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Dependable and organized with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Comfortable coaching employees and solving day-to-day problems.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn our tax and office software.
- Tax preparation or accounting experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to obtain a valid IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) if preparing tax returns.
- Some evening and weekend availability during peak tax season is helpful.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position beginning in December and continuing through tax season.
